Purpose: Various computations needed by serious Vedic astrologers and Vedic astrology researchers.

Requirements: This program will work on Windows 95, Windows 98, Windows Me, Windows NT, Windows 2000, Windows XP and Windows Vista computers. It will not work on old Windows 3.1 systems. It will not work on Macintosh/Apple systems with MacOS operating system and other non-windows systems such as Linux, Unix, Solaris etc systems.

A little less than 100 MB of disk space is needed for this program. But there are minimal installations that will work with less than 10 MB of disk space.

Though this software works for all display settings, it is optimized for 1024x768, 1280x1024 and 1600x1200 displays. With a display of 800x600 or less, the GUI (graphical user interface) becomes less powerful.

Features:

In terms of the range of calculations available, technical depth and breadth, level of customizability of calculations and ease of use, Jagannatha Hora is unsurpassed by any contemporary Vedic astrology software package. A nearly complete list of the features available in the full version can be seen here.

How to get it:

The complete version with an atlas containing half million cities in USA and two million international cities and an accurate ephemeris for 5400 BC-5400 AD is 57 MB in size. If you have a broadband internet connection with a high bandwidth, you can download it from here. If you have a slower connection, you may download a shorter 5 MB version here. The shorter version gives accurate calculations for 1800-2400 AD and gives approximate calculations for other dates within 3000 BC-3000 AD by using an analytical model. It does not have the 2.5 million city atlas that the full version has. You have to find the longitudes, latitudes and time zones of places and enter them manually.

If you want to download any of these versions, click the right mouse on the link and select "Save target as" in the pop-up menu. The corresponding zip file (jh72full.zip or jh72.zip) will be saved on your computer in the directory you choose. Go to that directory in a windows explorer. Locate the zip file and unzip it. Several new files will be created in the directory as a result of unzipping. Locate "setup.exe" out of the files created and run it by double-clicking it. The installation should start in a few seconds. Read the instructions and follow them.

If you have a previous version, you can update to the latest version by just copying the latest JHora.exe file. Please download the exe update file jh72exe.zip here. Unzip jh72exe.zip that you downloaded. You will get JHora.exe file. Replace the copy of JHora.exe in your computer with this new version. You can find the directory by clicking the right mouse button on the JHora shortcut on your desktop, selecting "Properties" in the popup menu and clicking the "Find target" button in the dialog box that pops up. It should open an explorer window and show the directory containing JHora.exe that you are using right now. Replace it with the new JHora.exe obtained by unzipping the downloaded jh71exe.zip.

Note: The zip files do not have any problem with them. Many people have successfully downloaded and installed the software. If you are unable to unzip them after downloading them or unable to install, it means that your download did not succeed for some reason. Keep trying until you succeed. We cannot help you with this and there is no use in sending us an email.

For a few years, we freely mailed software CDs to people who wanted them. But we have now discontinued the practice due to scarcity of time and resources. You have to download the software from the internet. You may also try to find someone who has already downloaded it and get them to make a CD for you. We apologize for our inability to mail CDs to you.

Thank you for using this software. This software was created with a lot of care, love and devotion. Please use it to help people and to conduct researches to enrich our collective understanding of Vedic astrology. It is the author's earnest and sincere hope that your use of this software will result in a lot of souls being helped and also in a renaissance in the Vedic astrological knowledge! God bless you and God bless all!
